James Whitworth

James Whitworth is a cartoonist and journalist.

Born in Sheffield, United Kingdom in 1970, Whitworth was educated at Tapton School and Sheffield Hallam University, where he graduated with a degree in English language and literature. During his time at university he won the Percy Snow Memorial Prize for Best Short Story, and contributed cartoons to the University's magazine.

In 2001, Whitworth completed an M.A. in English literature.

During 2007-2008, Whitworth wrote the crime novel Death's Disciple, and won an award from the Writers' & Artists' Yearbook for his blog, which followed the book's process.

In 2007, Whitworth compiled a book of his father's (Ralph Whitworth's) to much acclaim.

Whitworth produces a daily news cartoon for the online magazine Creative Boom. He is the Jewish Chronicle's news cartoonist and draws and writes the strip Rudge for Fleet Street magazine, Gentlemen Ranters.

Whitworth's work is regularly seen in the national press and has been exhibited in galleries.

He is currently illustrating a series of novels by writer, Peter Maughan to be published 2011-2012.
